Keyboardist, Song Writer, Producer
Born and raised in Tacoma, Washington, Michael Cole Jr. grew up surrounded by music. The son of Michael Cole Sr. and Sheila Cole (now Willis), he was introduced to the music industry at an early age through his family's strong musical background. Those early experiences sparked a lifelong passion that would shape his career as a musician, producer, and educator.
Michael attended Tacoma Public Schools before continuing his education in the Bethel School District, where his musical talents flourished. Throughout his school years, he performed as a pianist in the jazz band and sang in concert choir from elementary school through high school. During his junior year, his choir earned nine awards at a prestigious music competition in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada—an accomplishment that further fueled his dedication to music.
Following high school, Michael attended The Art Institute of Seattle, studying Audio Engineering. There, he developed the technical skills and creative vision that launched his career as a music producer. Between 2008 and 2012, he established himself as a versatile producer, working across a wide range of genres including gospel, R&B, hip-hop, smooth jazz, country, and contemporary music.
Throughout his career, Michael has contributed to numerous recording projects, writing and producing songs including "Speeding," "Code Red," "Hoodie," and "Temptations" on Omarion's Ollusion album as part of the production team 2fifty3. His production credits also include "Stranger" by Teairra Mari, "Shorty What's Up" by Day26, and "Swagga" by Emmanuel, among many other projects.
Today, Michael continues to make a lasting impact both in music and in his community. As Community Outreach Coordinator, musician, music producer, and program instructor with “WayOut” Kids, he mentors young people while using music as a powerful tool for education, creativity, and personal growth. His work has positively influenced students, parents, educators, and the broader community, reflecting his commitment to empowering the next generation.
Michael also serves as Music Director and Coordinator for Sound and Music Production at “WayOut Kids”, where he oversees musical programming and production. In addition, he serves as Stage Manager for Juneteenth: A Road to Economic Freedom, recognized as the largest Juneteenth celebration on the West Coast, helping bring together artists, performers, and community leaders for one of the region's most significant cultural events.
For Michael Cole Jr., music is more than a profession—it is a calling. Whether producing records, directing live productions, mentoring aspiring artists, or serving his community, he brings passion, excellence, and purpose to everything he does. Getting to know Michael is truly getting to know music.
